La Trobe University Community Placement: Healthy Ky – free Health Screenings for the Community
Healthy Ky: Bringing Heart and Health to Kyabram—Empowering Students, Engaging Communities, Just in Time for Christmas!”
This December (2nd - 20th ), La Trobe Nursing students are bringing the gift of health to Kyabram! To help refine their skills and make a meaningful impact on the community students will be offering FREE health screening at an Allan St Pop Up Clinic and other outreach locations in Kyabram, Lockington, Rushworth and Rochester. In partnership with Kyabram Community Learning Centre and Kyabram District Health Service, this initiative tackles the challenge of preparing university students for rural healthcare, where hands-on experience and community connections are often limited. It offers a unique opportunity for students to learn in real-world settings while helping improve healthcare access for residents of Kyabram and surrounding towns.

We invite local businesses and organisations to support this initiative and join Healthy Ky in making this holiday season healthier for everyone. Mental Health Week Community Expo - Kyabram 2024
As part of the Campaspe Murray Mental Health Month Working Group, Aldara Yenara Aboriginal Corporation helped facilitate this year’s event held in the Memorial Gardens in Kyabram on Thursday 10 October. This event was coordinated by the Campaspe Murray Mental Health and Wellbeing Network, a Network in operation for 25+ years with a focus on promoting mental health and development of mental health services in the Campaspe Shire and Murray River Local Government Areas. The Expo is a celebration of mental health month, and coincided on Thursday with World Mental Health Day. Mental Health Australia’s theme for this year’s World Mental Health Day is ‘Meaningful Connections Matter’:
Connections with loved ones, connections with your community, connections with colleagues, connections to supports and services, connection to Country – and connection to and with ourselves. The more we reduce stigma surrounding mental health, the more we play our part in creating a mentally healthy community. This Expo was an opportunity to support community wellbeing and showcase the various local mental health and wellbeing services and supports available.
See below for the first of a bunch of photos from the day.
More to come - including useful mental health links and info - so check back soon!
